This session will reveal the invisible structures behind the material design system. Designers will show how to use the new color systems, typographic strategies, and the underlying grids that hold it together. They will show how imagery and the new framework material rendering can make apps more interesting and communicate more quickly.
Three inspiring keynote talks from three world-renown speakers.
Ed Parsons Geospatial Technologist, Google, UK
Ed Parsons is the Geospatial Technologist of Google, with responsibility for evangelising Google’s mission to organise the world’s information using geography, and tools including Google Earth and Google Maps. In this role he also maintains links with Universities, Research and Standards Organisations which are involved in the development of Geospatial Technology. Ed is based in Google’s London office, and anywhere else he can plug in his laptop.
Dr. Reed Ferber Director/Professor, Running Injury Clinic/University of Calgary
Dr. Reed Ferber is a Professor with joint appointments across the Faculties of Kinesiology, Nursing, and the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. He is the founder and director of the Running Injury Clinic and internationally recognized as a leading expert in biomechanics research using wearable technology for the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and disease. Currently, he leads a team of UCalgary researchers in the NSERC Wearable Technology Research and Collaboration (We-TRAC) CREATE Training Program to train the next generation of wearable technology experts.
Dr. Steve Liang Founder and CTO/Associate Professor, SensorUp/University of Calgary
Dr. Steve Liang is a global influencer and change maker of Internet of Things. Steve is the founder and CTO of SensorUp, and an associate professor who holds an IoT research chair at the University of Calgary. Dr. Steve Liang's leading edge research and product development efforts are designed to unlock the full potential of the IoT by transforming heterogeneous "silo-ed" IoT systems into a homogeneous IoT system of systems. Steve is recognized as a thought leader, especially in IoT and geospatial technologies.
OGC SensorThings API has been adopted around the world and becoming a go-to standard to build large-scale and interoperable IoT system of systems. This session will showcase the successful use cases around the world.
Dr. Jimmy Chou Director and Professor, GIS.FCU, Taiwan
Dr. Hylke van der Schaaf , Fraunhofer IOSB, Germany
Dr. Alec Huang Associate Professor, NCU, Taiwan
Dr. Sara Saeedi Assistant Director, GeoSensor Web Lab, University of Calgary, Canada
IoT is a critical enabling technology for digital transformation. Digital transformation is the process of using IoT and AI to create new — or modify existing — business processes, culture, and customer experiences to meet changing business and market requirements. This session will present different use cases of using AI and IoT to transform organizations.
Corrie Banks Director of Logistics, Cando Rail Services, Canada
Roman Nemish CEO, TEKTELIC, Canada
Jim Joseph Solution Specialist, Expeto Wireless
This panel will be moderated by Dr. Steve Liang. The discussion will be a thought-provoking and interactive discussion regarding how can we disrupt existing proccesses and organizations with interoperable AI and IoT technologies. What's the value AI+IoT will bring? How to adopt and adapt?
